As a member of the Roofing & Siding Contractors Alliance (RSCA), Kirberg Company holds a very important alliance with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) that recognizes our company as a proactive leader in safety and health.

As part of this alliance, Kirberg Company works hand in hand with OSHA and the roofers union to put the safety of both our employees and clients at the forefront of our business practices. A key attribute of this alliance is the ability to track and report incidences of employee violations of safety policies and practices. The reason this is so vital is that it keeps all contracting companies informed of past safety violations, thus allowing them to only hire employees who value work site safety and the well-being of their clients.

To be eligible for the alliance, Kirberg was inspected by OSHA, had our policies reviewed by a third-party administrator, and was required to have an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) below 1. Kirberg's EMR is currently around .70, and we are proud to be qualified for this critical OSHA alliance.

At Kirberg, we use all the right equipment to make sure our workers are completely safe while working on our roofing jobs. One particular way we do this is with the Raptor, a mobile fall protection system that secures each worker to a Roof Safety Engagement Device. This allows the worker to move freely about the job site, while ensuring they are protected from potential falls.

Beyond the OSHA alliance and specialized equipment discussed above, we also take extra steps to be one of the safest roofing companies in the area. We have specific OSHA-certified trained workers on a variety of levels, and we consistently utilize professional safety inspectors to analyze, assess, and inspect our jobs to make sure we are living up to our reputation. Plus, Kirberg Company enforces a strict drug policy and randomly drug tests all employees.

All of this results in our impressively low occurences of injuries, lost time incidents, and overall accidents. It has also earned us numerous safety awards. Kirberg has been chosen for the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) safety award five times. In addition, we are annually honored for safety by the Associated General Contractors (ACG) St. Louis chapter, as well as being runner-up for the ACG national award for safety – making Kirberg the second safest contractor in the country! Are You Benefiting from Prop C?
INDUSTRY NEWS: UPDATE
Missouri Proposition C went into effect on January 1, 2010. In addition to the federal grant/ITC, both Ameren and KC Power & Light are providing a mandated incentive of $2 per watt of the installed cost of one of our Flexlight systems, up to 25,000 watts (25KW). Both utilities will be purchasing Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) from solar electric systems to meet the mandates of Proposition C. Kirberg will be monitoring the market for rates Ameren and KCP&L will be offering for SRECs. The Flexlight system is a thin film photovoltaic panel that adheres directly to the roofing membrane, allowing it to avoid wind loads and penetrations associated with framework for rigid panels. Once the Flexlight system is attached to the building's power panel through an inverter, you have a roof-mounted power plant!
